Scraptastic Quilt:  I made more headway on it this weekend.  I had intended to do another row of 4″x4″ blocks as the third row, but I was telling my roommate how I thought they should be pinwheels to be more aesthetically pleasing.  She suggested I do the bigger 8″x8″ ones I had done in the middle.  After a little calculation I realized that would work so I made up the blocks this weekend and sewed them up.  I started doing the white edging but right as I realized I didn’t have enough cut out to do the fourth side, I also realized I made a major mistake on one side, so I’m going to have to rip it out and start over again.  Since I had hit late Sunday night by this point I said forget it and went to bed.

Project 365: 25/365 Baby Bobby

Today I finally met Baby Bobby.  My sweet friends from college Joy and Brian had a baby right before Thanksgiving and awful friend that I am, I just met him tonight.  (To slightly excuse my behavior, they have had family in town since the day the baby was born until last week.)  I brought my camera to try to take some pictures of Bobby, but unfortunately Bobby was a little uncooperative.  He didn’t sleep at all during the day until about 45 minutes before I got there and then woke up not long after I arrived.  Needless to say, he didn’t spend much of time being happy.  It was mostly grumpy.  Poor Bobby.  Hopefully he’ll get some sleep tonight.

Project 365: 23/365 “It’s like a garden.”

And if you can tell me what movie that quote is from then you get, well, the satisfaction of knowing what movie that is from and knowing what a hopeless romantic I am!

Project 365: 22/365 Pomegranate Tree

This tree is a little bit of a miracle.  I bought it last spring and it’s still alive.  I’m not really a plant killer, but since my backyard is literally made of rocks and I don’t have a front yard, my plant options are limited to whatever I can place in a pot on the front steps of my house.  I was told this is dwarf pomegranate tree so it wouldn’t grow too tall.  Well, we then proceeded to have an extremely hot, extremely dry summer, but somehow this is the little plant that could.  It survived, along with my basil plant.  They are both still doing well.  And look at the bud forming on the pomegranate tree!

Project 365: 21/365 Plarn Party

My small group is participating in a ministry called Mats for Uganda.  My friend Beth is part of the organizing process in the area and after she told me about the project I got my small group involved.  The goal is to make sleeping mats for people in Uganda by recycling plastic grocery store bags into mats.  In order to do this, you must cut up the grocery bags and make them into “plarn” or plastic yarn to be crocheted into mats.  Hence, the plarn party.  Above you see Renee getting into the spirit.  People came over on Saturday night I made us dinner (and cherry pie) and we watched the first season of Modern Family on DVD (thank you Neil!) and made plarn together.  We had a really great time and did a lot of laughing.  We also made a lot of plarn! Project 365: 20/365 Mansfield Park

I spent a good portion of Friday reading in my effort to read all six Jane Austen novels by the end of the year.  I’m almost done with Mansfield Park.  I watched the movie again this weekend, and must say I’m surprised at how differently Fanny comes across in the movie versus the book.  Looking forward to the ending.

Project 365: 19/365 Bath Time

When I went walking after work today, the birds were out in mass at the lake.  It was a little crazy how many there were.  I guess they are enjoying this freakish heat wave the same way all the people at the lake were enjoying it.  It’s suppose to hit 80 degrees tomorrow.  Are we sure it’s January?

Project 365: 18/365  Small Group Night

Wednesday night means small group night.  Renee and Andrew started our Bible study group almost two years ago and has been the most amazing blessing to me.  We get together, eat a really good meal together (that Renee does a fantastic job at) and then study a chapter of the Bible.  Currently, we are studying the book of Luke.  Above you can see Andrea petting Dottie during the discussion.  Here are a few others from the night.
