Project 365: 362/365 Birthday Quilt

I finally finished it!  I finished my birthday quilt.  You may remember that at my birthday party I had my friends write me messages onto patchwork squares.  I also took photos from the photobooth at my party and incorporated them into the quilt.  Well, I finally finished it.  It’s huge and I love it!  I’ve been using it to keep me warm since it’s become so cold here.  The front and back are both pictured here.  I used Elizabeth Hartman’s Small Plates design.

Project 365: 361/365 Dad’s New Apron

For Christmas, I made my dad an apron.  My dad loves to grill, but he has a tendency to be messy when cooking/grilling.  My mom suggested that I make him an apron for Christmas.  So on Black Friday we headed to the fabric store to see what we could find.  We found the dark blue vinyl you see pictured above.  It’s a tablecloth like material in that the back is soft.  We then found the cotton print to match it and I bought red double fold bias tape to edge it.  The width was 60 inches, so I turned that 60 inches into the length and then made the width about 24 inches.  I then narrowed the top and used the cotton print as the ties.  I wound up having enough material left over to make and identical one for my brother, who just got a grill for his birthday.

Project 365: 341/365 Final day of sewing retreat

This was the final day of the sewing retreat.  I made the pillow you see me holding there.  Everyone is holding their projects up and our backdrop there is the backing of a quilt Jenn is making.  Isn’t it great?  Amanda is not pictured because her baby was not up the sewing weekend, so she wound up leaving early.

Project 365: 340/365 New purse

The first weekend of this month I spent on a sewing retreat.  On this particular day I made this purse for myself.  My old purse was two years old and the handles were falling apart, so I decided to make this purse.  I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and I think it’s too big for me.  It’s just too easy to stuff too much stuff in there.  I may turn it into a craft bag and make myself a small purse.

Project 365: 320/365 Quilt Binding

I made binding for my birthday quilt, but that’s not the impressive part.  What is impressive is that I made bias quilt binding tape.  I’ve never made it on the bias before and it turned out really well.  I’m very proud of myself.  And it’s pink!  (Can you tell I’m kinda girly girl?)
